The fresh new Nike threads for the 2017-18 NBA season have slowly started surfacing.
Nike and the NBA announced back in June an eight-year partnership that will see the American apparel powerhouse become the exclusive on-court uniform provider.
Since the early 90’s Nike has been a marketing partner and produced replica jerseys but this deal worth close to $1 billion dollars represents the decline of Adidas in the NBA as their 11 year deal has come to an end.
Nike boasts a monumental reach in the market through not only Nike itself but affiliated brands such as Jordan and Converse. Furthermore the endorsement deals with some of the best players in the league – Kevin Durant, LeBron James and Kyrie Irving, ultimately reveals the tycoon of basketball just got even bigger.
And for the first time in U.S pro team history, the Charlotte Hornets will sport the iconic Jumpman logo on their uniforms.
The new jerseys include various revolutionary features that reveal the innovation of the brand. The design utilises features of the prominent Nike Aeroswift and features 3D Body Maps, that include sweat and heat maps.
Alongside these advancements to the jersey, all clubs will scrap the ‘Home’ and ‘Away’ uniform designations and adopt 4 kits known as ‘editions’, that will be influenced by the NBA but also the roots and heritage of each club.
Nike have not held back in these early stages, revealing an aggressive strategy that will take the NBA apparel scene to new heights.
