The boys from Arsenal touched down on Tuesday ahead of their epic encounters against Sydney FC and the Western Sydney Wanderers. Even without the likes of Hector Bellerin and Alexis Sanchez, the team oozes class through the likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlin, Oliver Giroud, Mesut Ozil and their latest signing Alexandre Lacazette.
The acquisition of the prolific Frenchman is a key sign of intent from Arsene Wenger who looks to bolster his squad ahead of a season that for the first time in two decades will not feature in the UEFA Champions League. Lacazette will add a degree of swiftness to Arsenal’s attack and these close to sell out exhibition matches will provide a glimpse into the talent on offer.
To coincide with the tour, the club launched their 3rd kit by Puma Football at Fort Denison in Sydney Harbour on Wednesday night with skipper Laurent Koscielny joinied by Mezut Ozil, Petr Cech, Olivier Giroud, Nacho Monreal and new boy Lacazette. The iconic Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge forming a fitting background for the new black & dark grey kit with a pink trim.
With Arsenal the last of the big four teams to tour Australia in recent years, it reveals the ever growing support abroad for the Premier League and also provides local talent with the chance to prove themselves against the very best. It’s going to be a cracking couple days for football fans!
